Probation

The Board may, as a result of an Accusation filed against a physician and surgeon certificate, order the physician and surgeon on probation for a specified time period with specified terms and conditions.

Probation is mandated to protect the public by ensuring physicians and surgeons who have been placed on probation comply with the imposed terms and conditions. This includes physicians and surgeons who reside and/or practice in California or reside and/or practice in another state. If the probationer does not comply with the imposed terms and conditions, the Board shall proceed with an appropriate enforcement action.
